Special Projects Coordinator

Meredith has worked for the Vermont State College System on the Castleton campus since 2001, and is a graduate of Castleton State College.

She worked in the Associate Academic Dean’s Office for 15 years, and the President’s Office for 6, before becoming the Special Projects Coordinator for the VTSU in the summer of 2022. She was also the advisor to the Spectrum Pride club from 2001 until 2022.

Over the years, she has worked closely with students and faculty, and is an excellent resource.

Assistant Director of Academic Scheduling

Erica began working for Vermont Technical College in 2005 and has worked in many areas across the college, including Admissions and Academic Affairs. Their professional passion is for data and problem-solving, which they’re currently leveraging in the Vermont State University Registrar’s Office to create and maintain academic schedules. When they’re not in the office, they’re exploring nature with their dogs and traveling in their Jeep, where all roads lead back to Vermont.

Jen Garrett-Ostermiller

Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning Innovation

Jen’s career in higher education began in student affairs supporting students’ academic progress through roles in academic support services, disability services, and academic advising. She started working in faculty development supervising developmental English and first-year seminar courses at the Community College of Vermont (CCV) while retaining student advising and TRIO responsibilities. She eventually shifted into an Educational Developer role at the Center for Teaching & Learning at the University of Vermont (UVM) before moving to Vermont State University. She continues to teach an interdisciplinary first-year seminar course, part-time at CCV. She received her BS in Environmental Studies and her MEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs, both from UVM. She is a voracious reader, self-professed public radio nerd, passionate women’s soccer fan, birder, and all-around nature-lover.
