What You’ll Learn
Vermont State’s A.A. in Communications is built upon the core courses that every communications student needs, with hands-on experiences to really hone in on the skillsets required for each concentration. Students choosing the general Associate degree in Communications without a specific concentration will have the opportunity to explore all communications disciplines — audio, visual, and marketing.
Outside the Classroom, In the Community
Students who take part in the associate degree program could find themselves interning within the university’s marketing office, working with a local business to create a strong PR or Marketing strategy on social media, or could be working alongside a journalist at a local paper or news station.

Internships & Jobs in Veterinary Technology
Vermont State Veterinary Technology students gain hands-on experience working with a variety of species including dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, rabbits, rats, birds, and reptiles.
In addition, students are required to complete a 300-hour externship between the first and second year of the degree program, at least half of which is at a primary care small animal practice. Students may spend the other half at a specialty practice. Many Vermont State veterinary technician students are hired by their externship placements immediately upon graduation.
Architectural & Building Engineering Technology, A.A.S.
With an A.A.S. in Architectural & Building Engineering Technology from Vermont State University, you will learn the technical side of architecture, design, and the construction process for a career in helping to shape our built environment.
You will develop a broad knowledge of the aesthetic design, space planning, materials, methods, heating, cooling, lightingand structural systems of modern construction. You’ll also acquire practical skills in drafting, computer-aided design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM) team-based design processes, and project management.
Upon graduation, you will be ready to enter the field in a wide range of positions working with architects and engineers, contractors, project managers, drafters, and surveyors. Alternatively, you may continue to build your professional skills by continuing directly on to the Vermont State Bachelor of Architectural Engineering Technology degree or by applying for bachelor’s degree programs at other architecture or engineering universities.

What You’ll Learn
Our curriculum combines the design-related content you would expect to find in an architecture degree with the practical skills and knowledge about the construction process you would expect in a architectural technology associate degree.
Courses include plenty of group work and real-world projects to give you practice in applying the skills and design principles you’re learning.
You’ll graduate with a robust set of skills and competence in areas including:
Architectural and engineering drafting
CAD and BIM systems, including Autodesk Revit
The construction process, from design through project completion
Aesthetic design, space planning, materials, heating, cooling, lighting and structural systems, and loads
Construction project management
Technical writing and project-related presentations
Through your coursework, you’ll apply what you’re learning through practical projects. For some of these projects, you’ll have the chance to use your new skills to meet the needs of local groups and organizations.
Faculty and students from our program have participated in designing and/or building each of the five Habitat for Humanity homes in Randolph, Vermont.
Each year students give architectural design input to community projects in Vermont and New Hampshire such as: the proposed Vermont Holocaust Memorial, the proposed Lotus Lake renovations, the proposed Piermont Town Hall, and the proposed Vermont Mountaineers ballfield concession and locker rooms. You may even be able to make an impact on campus. Students have performed energy assessments of buildings on our campuses and made recommendations on ways to reduce energy consumption.

You’ll provide patient care in a variety of healthcare settings in Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York.
