SUMMARY:Teaching in the Present Moment | Respect: Is the Government Passing This Nonpartisan Test?
DESCRIPTION:In the presentation / discussion\, Prof. Brendan Lalor proposes that we evaluate the executive branch of the government through the lens of respect\, arguing that the Administration’s actions and policies systematically and clearly disrespect people by disregarding their interests and by using them. Student scholar Rosie Phelan highlights policies triggering waves of systematic failures to respect subjects in clinical trials. The analysis also suggests a practical strategy for engaging people on all sides who recognize respect as an essential aspect of relating to people ethically. For the security of attendees\, the event won’t be available via Zoom or other streaming service
