Mission & History
Established in 2002, the Vermont State University (VTSU) Center for Schools is committed to advancing education for practicing educators in Vermont and beyond by supporting the work of schools through in-service programs, graduate coursework, and professional learning opportunities.

2025 Early Childhood Educators Institute
The Ninth Annual Early Childhood Educators Institute (ECEI) will be live online and fully interactive using Zoom Videoconferencing on July 29, July 31, August 5 & August 7 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you are an early childhood or primary teacher (birth to grade 3), a special educator, home visitor, or related service/CIS personnel, then this Institute is for you!

What We Do
The Center’s mission is to empower birth-12 education professionals through access to rich learning opportunities. Center staff work closely with VTSU faculty and educators to develop industry-specific credit-bearing courses at the graduate level tailored to the needs of today’s demanding school environments.

The Center For Schools
- Offers over 300 courses annually in online, in-person, and hybrid formats
- Sets up on-site contract courses requested by school staff
- Arranges for independent courses and tutorials
- Provides assistance to those seeking licensure
- Links exemplary field practitioners with each other for support
- Arranges for summer institutes on VTSU campuses
