At Vermont State University, we are committed to meeting you where you are on your educational journey. When you are ready to complete your degree, we are ready to help you reach your goal!
If you earned college credit after high school graduation or after earning your GED, you are considered a transfer student. We welcome applications from students who are seeking to attend for the first time and scholars returning to complete their studies. Many types of transfer students choose to apply, including students seeking:
- General Transfer: If you have never attended Vermont State University or our legacy institutions (Castleton University, Northern Vermont University, or Vermont Tech), you are a transfer student applying for admission.
- Readmission: If you have attended Vermont State University or our legacy institutions (Castleton University, Northern Vermont University, or Vermont Tech) and are seeking to return to your studies on any of our campuses, you are a transfer student applying for readmission.
- Internal Transfer from CCV: If you are currently attending the Community College of Vermont, you are an internal transfer student. We will waive your application fee and pull your Vermont State Colleges System transcript. See more information for CCV students.
Where ever your path has led, we are glad you are here now. We are excited to work with you as you return to your studies!
Regarding Transfer Credit Evaluation
We understand that the transfer of earned credits to your program at Vermont State is very important. Applicant transfer evaluations are provided by the Registrar’s Office after admission. Your evaluation will give you a preliminary summary of how your completed transferable credits fit into your intended program and degree requirements at Vermont State. Full policy can be found in the academic catalog.
We understand the importance of this information to your decision process and encourage you to connect with credit evaluation questions. We’re happy to work with you to meet your needs.
