Deb began her teaching career in 1987 six days after being honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. After spending 10 years in Southern California teaching science in minority majority schools, she enrolled in a doctoral program in Secondary Science Education at The University of Iowa. This provided the opportunity to teach at the college level and she has been at Castleton University since 1999. The opportunities provided by the University include returning to graduate school to pursue an M.S. in Paleontology, specifically Pleistocene megafauna. After living on both coasts, Deb proudly calls Vermont her home and is honored to be part of the faculty at Castleton to prepare future generations of teachers.
