Checks should be made payable to “Vermont State University.” Please include your gift designation in the memo line (e.g., “Castleton Men’s Soccer” or “Ethan Allen Scholarship”).

IMPORTANT: Donor name and gift designation are not transmitted with wire transfers, so please be sure to communicate your intention to make a wire transfer in advance—thank you!

A gift of appreciated assets—such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or real estate—can offer significant tax advantages. Common appreciated assets include publicly traded securities, real estate, and closely held stock.

Including Vermont State University in your will or estate plan is a meaningful way to support future students and programs—without affecting your finances today. Bequests can take many forms: a dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after other gifts are fulfilled.

A qualified charitable distributions (QCD) from your IRA can be up to $100,000 per person, per year, and can satisfy part or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD), if applicable. Using your RMD to make a QCD lowers your taxable income, which can provide a greater tax reduction than a charitable deduction.
