Helen Papeika

Co-chair Department of Nursing, Assistant Professor of Nursing, MSN Program Coordinator

Thank you for your interest in Vermont State University Nursing! My name is Helen Papeika and I hold several roles within our department. I am a full-time faculty member who teaches in both the prelicensure-BSN program in Castleton as well as the online MSN program, where I also serve as the program coordinator. I also serve as one of the two chairs of the Department of Nursing. I earned my BSN from Georgetown University, my MSN from The Catholic University of America, and my DNP from Quinnipiac University. I’ve worked as a nurse in urban and rural regions, large medical centers, and small community hospitals, served inpatient and outpatient populations, and worked as an educator, a bedside nurse, a director, and a case manager among multiple other nursing roles.

I moved to Shrewsbury Vermont in 2019 with my husband, Tom, and our daughter, Mary. We have two other children — Katie who lives with her husband and my precious granddaughter outside of Philly, and Meaghan who lives in Salem, Massachusetts. I love nursing and nursing education and am happy to discuss your education options at any time. It’s the greatest profession you can imagine; one that allows you to be a part of important times in the lives of strangers and friends alike.
