RANDOLPH, Vermont – Vermont State University (VTSU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Suk-Hyun Yoon (he/him) as the university’s new Chief Diversity Officer.
As Chief Diversity Officer, Mr. Yoon is charged with overseeing the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice, proactively advancing university goals related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice (DEISJ), providing leadership, formulating policies, overseeing programming, and acting as a hub of resources for the community. While all departments bear responsibility for DEISJ work, this office guides the work and provides strategic direction while supporting students, faculty, and staff.
“Mr. Yoon brings a wealth of experience and passion to this crucial role and a deep commitment to supporting our shared work to foster a more just, equitable, and inclusive university environment,” said university president David Bergh. “I’m pleased to welcome Mr. Yoon to the VTSU team and look forward to working directly with him to advance critical policies and cultivate a university community that is welcoming to all.”
The Chief Diversity Officer reports directly to President Bergh and serves as an essential team member on the University’s Executive Leadership Team. Mr. Yoon brings 18 years of working in education, most recently as Senior Advisor for Inclusive Excellence at the University of Vermont. In his role at VTSU, Mr. Yoon will work closely and collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to co-create and implement innovative strategies that advance our community-wide commitment to DEISJ.
