Want to make a big difference on campus? There’s no better way to make an impact than by serving on the Student Government Association (SGA) of your Vermont State campus (Student Council on the Randolph campus).
Students elect SGA leaders and representatives, who make decisions about many campus issues and work to address students’ needs related to campus policies, procedures, and rules. The SGA promotes cooperation between the student body and administrators, faculty, and the surrounding off-campus community.
The SGA also approves and partially funds student clubs, entertainment, and special events and projects that vary by campus.
SGA meetings are open to all students, and you’re encouraged to voice concerns and give input on issues. If you’re motivated to help your peers and create a great campus environment at Vermont State, consider running for the SGA.
Student leaders on each VTSU campus have been at the forefront of sharing ideas and creating a unified spirit among all students. Notably, the student government groups from the VTSU campuses have adopted a common constitution, which was ratified April 2024, and formally adopted on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Student Government Association Members 2024-2025:
Mission Statement:
As the Student Government Association of VTSU Castleton, we value being dedicated and knowledgeable representatives that serve the student body and surrounding community at large. We pride ourselves in providing channels to all students – resident or commuter, traditional or non-traditional, full or part-time status – for overall development in both academic and co-curricular endeavors. It is our focus to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice throughout our work, and serve all students as best we can. We aim to serve our students through our three branches – Student Congress, the Campus Activities Board, and Student Court – and our numerous standing and ad-hoc committees. Through collaboration between these groups, we serve as the voice of the students.
Structure:
The Castleton SGA consists of three branches — the Student Congress, Campus Activities Board, and the Student Court – and eight committees. The Student Congress, chaired by the SGA President, serves as the oversight committee for the Castleton SGA. The Campus Activities Board, chaired by the Vice President of Campus Activities, is tasked with planning and preparing student activities and events on campus, with programming occurring every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
