Leadership Studies, M.A.

Vermont State’s online Master of Arts in Leadership Studies provides a unique approach to learning the strategies that mid-career, in-transition, or senior professionals across all sectors can use to shape the future of their organization and community. With an interdisciplinary curriculum of only six 5-credit courses that can be completed in one year, you can study innovative topics such as design and system thinking, diversity studies, social ethics, critical future studies, and scholar-practitioner inquiry. Our leadership degree program cultivates contemplative practice by developing awareness, connection, and wisdom through the integration of avant-garde content, personal development, and peer interaction in a multimodal asynchronous learning environment.

  • Future Impact: Gain the strategies, knowledge, and inspiration to shape the movements of the future, whether you are a mid-career or senior professional or are in the middle of a professional change. Students come from every sector, including education, business, public affairs, human and social services, healthcare, the arts, and civic affairs.
  • Flexible Design: Complete the six-course program in one year through full-time enrollment (two concurrent courses per semester) or in two years with part-time enrollment (one course per semester). Courses can be completed in any sequence.
  • Cutting-Edge Strategies: Courses use multimedia content, experiential projects, open education resources, peer study sessions, critical perspectives, creative expression, adult learning theory, and other engaging instructional strategies.
  • Deep Study: 5-credit courses give you fewer courses to complete, fewer transitions, fewer (yet more captivating) assignments, and fewer readings, so you can absorb them more fully.
