Why Study Renewable Energy at Vermont State?
A Huge Demand: As states around the U.S. confront climate change, they need professionals to work with renewable energy systems. Our graduates pursue careers as systems designers, systems technicians, field operations technologists, technical managers, and sales technicians employed by renewable energy manufacturers; energy project developers; manufacturing and technology companies; and energy consulting and management firms.
Jump-Start Your Career: Within six months of graduating, 100 percent of our Renewable Energy alums have accepted employment in the industry, at manufacturers, energy product developers, consulting firms, and elsewhere. Some students have jobs waiting after they graduate.
Hands-on Learning: You’ll work with professors in our Renewable Energy Lab, with access to diverse energy installations such as a wind turbine, solar array, and anaerobic digester. Well-rounded critical-thinking skills will strengthen your options for green energy jobs.
What You’ll Learn
With Vermont’s growing focus on climate change, you’ll become a thinker and doer in our program, capable of finding solutions through:
Varied Technologies: You’ll work with and design solar PV, biomass, wind, and renewable heating systems in small classes where you’ll know your professors and peers.
A Comprehensive Approach: You’ll use a broad range of techniques and tools, including math, science, engineering, and technology, to solve problems and broaden your perspective. Strong critical-thinking skills will strengthen your green energy career options, too.
Through internships, co-ops, career coaching, and other opportunities, you’ll expand your professional network as you gain cutting-edge skills for your career. Here’s a sample of what our students have been learning and doing, as reported in these capstone articles in Green Energy Times:
