The M.A. in Middle-Level Math Education at Vermont State is designed for individuals who have a liberal arts degree or a formal background related to math, engineering, or related subjects. Our interdisciplinary curriculum simplifies is a mixture of online coursework and practicum experiences in your local school district. Whether you are a current teacher or career changer, our program will develop your expertise in middle-level education and prepare you for a professional career as a math teacher. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to add the social studies endorsement to your current license or obtain initial licensure as a new teacher.

Courses are online to increase access and avoid excessive travel in difficult weather conditions. Participants may complete the licensure portion of the program first in order to seek a teaching position, then complete the remaining coursework for the master’s degree over time. Our Placement Office will help you locate a local school for practicum and internship experiences.
