Vermont State’s flexible, affordable Continuing Education courses are designed to meet the needs of working professionals with online, in-person, and hybrid offerings from multiple campus locations.
Our courses integrate theory with applied experience and are developed and taught by university faculty who take a personalized approach to each participant’s learning. Courses may be stackable toward a graduate degree or certificate.
Our graduate certificates offer a more structured learning plan for certain subject areas, offering a clear roadmap to a credential that furthers your career. Plus, you may be able to stack graduate continuing education courses toward a graduate degree without reapplying.

- Hybrid – A course that includes both scheduled in-person class meetings at set location(s) and times, and online interactions that are either synchronous or asynchronous as determined by the instructor.
- Lecture – An educational discourse given to a class that often includes discussion and activity.
- Online – A course taught asynchronously and entirely online.
- Synchronous – A course offered fully online with pre-scheduled synchronous class meetings through video conferencing.
- Seminar – Small, discussion-based classes.
