Vermont State University offers two opportunities to get a head start on college for motivated Vermont high school students entering their senior year: Early College and VAST.
Early College
In the Early College program, high school seniors complete their senior year of high school and first year of college at the same time. Early College courses are offered tuition-free for Vermont students, making this a fantastic opportunity for students who want to get a jump on college as they also complete high school graduation requirements. Early College is available at all five main campuses and online.
VAST: Vermont Academy of Science and Technology
High school students interested in science and technology are encouraged to consider VAST: The Vermont Academy of Science and Technology. VAST students complete their senior year of high school while earning college credit for their work. The program is tuition-free for Vermont resident students! VAST is an independent, accredited high school exclusively for high school seniors offered at our Randolph and Williston campuses.
Deciding to begin an Early College or VAST experience is a big step.
Students seeking to enroll in Early College or VAST will Apply for Undergraduate Studies and follow our Application Checklist for Early College and VAST Students. Students are encouraged to be attentive to Application Deadlines.
At Vermont State, our supportive faculty, small class sizes, and welcoming campus communities will help you navigate your path as you learn along with peers with similar aspirations, focus, and drive. Many Early College and VAST students go on to complete their degree at Vermont State, too.
