Elisabeth “Liz” Hughes is the Paramedicine Program Coordinator at Vermont State University, where she’s dedicated to creating a welcoming, supportive learning environment for future EMS providers. She brings a blend of real‑world experience from emergency department care, field operations, and EMS communications, giving her a practical, down‑to‑earth approach to teaching and program leadership.
In addition to her work at VTSU, Liz serves as a full‑time paramedic with Middlebury Regional EMS and continues to practice per‑diem with Essex Rescue. Liz is passionate about helping students grow into confident, capable clinicians and takes pride in guiding them as they develop their judgment, identity, and voice within the EMS profession.
