Dr. Riley Kirk is a PhD-trained pharmaceutical scientist specializing in cannabis and natural product research. Her work bridges rigorous laboratory science with community-based, lived-experience data to better understand how cannabis and other botanicals influence health, behavior, and quality of life. She is the founder of the Network of Applied Pharmacognosy (NAP), a nonprofit research and education organization advancing transparent, participatory science through large-scale surveys, longitudinal studies, and public-facing science communication.
Dr. Kirk is also the author of Reefer Wellness and the host of the Bioactive Podcast, where she translates complex pharmacology and plant science into accessible, evidence-based conversations. In addition to her research and outreach work, Dr. Kirk teaches cannabis medicine at Vermont State University (VTSU). Her research interests include polypharmacology, whole-plant medicine, harm reduction, and the role of the endocannabinoid system in human health.
