Substance Use Awareness & Harm Reduction Training

November 4 | 12:30 pm 2:00 pm

This educational program will be presented in collaboration with the State of Vermont Division of Substance Use and Turning Point Center of Rutland County and the Wellness Center. This presentation aims to engage students in a meaningful discussion about substance use prevention, recovery, and harm reduction. The speakers will offer their professional insight on the continuum of care in substance misuse. A key component of the program will be a NARCAN training session, equipping students with life-saving knowledge and practical tools to respond to opioid overdoses. This event also provides an important opportunity for students to connect with a key local resource in recovery support.

In addition to raising awareness, the event will highlight career opportunities (with additional support from Southern Vermont AHEC) in the fields of substance use prevention, support, and recovery services. Designed as a multidisciplinary initiative, the program is relevant to students across a range of fields including health sciences, biology, nursing, psychological sciences, health promotion, criminal justice, education, and social work—encouraging a holistic and collaborative approach to addressing substance misuse in our communities.
