CASTLETON, Vt. (WCAX) – While her murder remains unsolved, her community is finding new ways to remember her.
Vermont State University is now honoring the legacy of Honorée Fleming through financial aid.
VTSU is paying tribute to the school’s late dean with the creation of a financial aid fund to benefit students who “embody the values and qualities of Fleming,” for example, female students majoring in the sciences or anyone who exhibits her academic spirit, strong work ethic and dedication.
Fleming was killed in a still-unsolved shooting on a trail near the Castleton campus more than a year ago.
She had taught at Middlebury College before joining VTSU as dean. She retired in 2012.
