I started college in 2019 as a diesel power systems student at VTC Randolph, with the intention of transferring to the mechanical engineering program. When we got sent home due to covid I decided to take a little while off, since learning diesel mechanics and engineering online wasn’t right for me. When things opened up after covid, I got myself a job I actually enjoyed, so school got put on the afterburner again.

After 4 years of working that job and telling myself I’d go back to school at some point I finally just had to do it. Two weeks before the fall semester started, while I was also finishing a department of labor apprenticeship with my job, I enrolled in the Electric Engineering Technology program in Williston.

After commuting from the northeast kingdom of Vermont to Williston, 2-3 days a week while also working full time, I am set to graduate with my Associates degree this spring, and starting on my Bachelors in the fall. I am deeply appreciative of my partner Allison for putting up with me not really having a day off for the last two years. I also couldn’t have done this program without the help of my mother, and the other student success staff at VTSU Lyndon for helping me get through.

This whole program has been one of the most challenging things in my life, balancing the course load with a full time job, and all the other responsibilities that come with being an adult is really something to be proud of!
