When I got sober in 2021, I never thought I would return to college or be successful if I did. Well, in the fall of 2023, when I had been sober for two years, I returned to CCV. I made the President’s List the first semester I was eligible, and have continued to do so at VTSU each semester that it is possible.
I have met and gotten to know amazing people with valuable life experience and perspectives through TRIO, people I wouldn’t have known existed if I hadn’t come to VTSU Johnson. I recently began my first education Practicum for Social Studies, and today I can work through the anxiety that comes with it. In the past, it would have paralyzed me. I am beyond grateful to everyone who pushed me to be the best I can be every day, and also to the VTSU community.
