Karen Stomski

My name is Karen Stomski, and I started at Vermont State University last fall after receiving my Associate’s Degree from CCV. I have worked as a Paraeducator in Pawlet, Vermont, at the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union for the past 30 years. I love working with children. My specialty is working with kids in special education who have severe disabilities.  Non-verbal children have a lot to say.

I decided to go to college and get my Teaching Degree in Pre-K, followed by a Special Education Pre-K and up, plus a degree or endorsement in Behavior Analyst. I believe if we reach these children at an earlier stage, we can further advance their education and have a better impact on their lives.

Being an online student while working a full-time job and having a family is not easy. I take one day at a time, trying to accomplish as much as I can each day. I do miss out on spending time relaxing, but I will be able to do that soon enough.
