I want others to know that if I was able to accomplish the education that I wanted, they can too. Throughout my childhood I grew up in poverty and the adults in my lives struggled with substance abuse, so I had to step up to the plate for my little brother and missed a lot of school because of it. I never thought I would be able to attend college, but as a matter of fact I am now the first in my family with a degree. I am now working as a nurse and plan on continuing my education to be best equipped to help those in my community and financially support my daughter.
