Theodore Donnell

My path started with being offered to attend the Assessment of Prior Learning course through my workplace in 2017. The next four years were spent working towards my associate’s degree in engineering technology, graduating in 2021.

I then started a new path, working on a bachelor’s degree in applied business management. Graduating this May brings that effort to fruition. I am also considering continuing on to a master’s degree.

The inspiration for earning a degree comes from my grandfather and sister. Both attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated with a degree in business. My grandfather, having grown up in a small Rhode Island town was the only one of nine students in his high school graduating class to graduate from college.

This has taken a long time for me to achieve, and I’m sometimes asked what I will do with my education. I am getting towards the end of my working career so it may just make me a better-informed, well-rounded person with no professional advancement. Or maybe I will find a job that fits the bill, only the future knows. To all I would like to say it is never too late to learn, and just because we are reaching the end of this road doesn’t mean your education has ended, it has just begun.
