Returning to school at age 45, as a second-language learner while balancing family and work responsibilities, was not an easy decision. I would not have taken this step without what I believe is a strong calling from God. This journey has required courage, perseverance, and faith.
During some of the hardest seasons in our family’s life, Vermonters showed us extraordinary kindness and compassion. The support we received changed my view of community and service. I am especially grateful to UVMMC for the opportunities and encouragement that helped make my return to school possible.
At VTSU, the faculty have supported me every step of the way. Their patience, guidance, and belief in me have strengthened my desire to become a nurse who serves with both skill and heart.
My faith motivates me daily. I believe God placed this calling in my heart—to care for those who are vulnerable and to give back to the community that carried me through. I am deeply grateful to Vermont, to VTSU, and to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I hope to pay that kindness forward through nursing.
