We’re making a Vermont State education more affordable for our neighbors!
Beginning in the fall 2026 semester, we’re offering qualified residents of designated Good Neighbor counties a tuition credit waiver upon successful acceptance to VTSU. This waiver adjusts tuition cost to match the Vermont resident tuition cost — opening the door to an even more affordable VTSU education.
This tuition credit waiver offers the best possible savings for eligible students. The waiver may be renewed annually for up to four years. Note: The Good Neighbor Tuition Program may not be combined with merit scholarships.
Students eligible for VTSU’s Good Neighbor Tuition Program reside in the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York counties listed below. (Some conditions apply; see below for details.)

Housing Requirement: If you’re attending classes at Castleton, Johnson, Killington, Lyndon, or Randolph, you’ll need to live on campus for the duration of your program. Exceptions apply if you’re approved to commute under VTSU’s housing policy — for example, if you live in your own or a parent’s home nearby. Students at the Williston Campus or any nursing sites across the state are exempt from this requirement.
