Why Study Cinema at Vermont State?
- In-Demand Skills: Develop your cinematic style through hands-on project-based learning as well as diverse coursework that examines current and historical filmmakers. This concentration is for the aspiring filmmaker, director, or writer who is looking to understand a complex industry, and is also a stepping stone to graduate school.
- Technology Expertise: Our program integrates professional equipment and industry-standard software with professional practice to prepare you for a variety of cinematic-based fields. You will develop your skills in cinematography, directing, editing, producing and production design, and sound.
- Hands-On Experiential Learning Environment: You’ll create cinematic pieces as early as your first semester. Cinema industry connections have helped students gain industry experience through internships, job opportunities, and external programs with a variety of filmmakers and film industry companies.
- Experienced Faculty: You’ll work with faculty who have graduated from top cinema studies and production programs, have extensive documentary and commercial production and post-production experience, and have worked on many award-winning films.
