What is an In-Person Plus program?
Program-required courses are taught through a combination of in-person and remote delivery. Remote learning may require meeting at a specific time or may not have a specific class time; all weekly interactions and assignments for remote courses are completed through a learning site.
Develop your studio and live sound skills in the Audio Production Concentration within the Music Business & Industry (MBI) major at Vermont State — the program for students interested in music production, audio engineering, music mixing, live sound, and audio post-production for film, television, streaming, and video games.
Your hands-on education begins year one in the MBI recording studio and Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Lab, and you’ll learn live sound reinforcement working events in the Alexander Twilight Theatre right on campus.
We understand that the cost and value of your education is important to you. That's why we're committed to being one of the most affordable colleges in Vermont and why more than 80% of our students receive aid. MBI students are hands-on throughout the program — running the Gregg Fest musical festival on campus each spring, running sound in the Alexander Twilight Theatre, working with St. Johnsbury-based Catamount Arts, and interning with audio production companies throughout the region.
“Music has always been a passion of mine, and I decided to take that passion further by choosing the MBI major at Vermont State. I truly love the music industry and working behind the scenes to make projects come to fruition. I feel like I’m in a pretty good spot. I have the baseline knowledge I need and the experience to take myself further.”
