The VTSU Tribute Scholarship Fund was established in 2026 to provide a lasting way to honor Vermont State University faculty and staff whose service has shaped our university community.
Rather than creating separate tribute funds for individual employees, the VTSU Tribute Scholarship Fund brings these gifts together in one endowed scholarship fund. This shared approach strengthens the fund’s impact, supports more students over time, and creates a lasting connection among honorees, donors, and VTSU students.
Gifts to the fund are added to the endowment principal of this pooled scholarship fund and preserved in perpetuity. The income generated by the fund provides scholarship support for students enrolled at Vermont State University.
How Honorees are Recognized
A gift made in honor or memory of a VTSU faculty or staff member makes that individual a part of the VTSU Tribute Scholarship Fund’s permanent recognition community. When a gift is made in memory of a colleague who has passed away, surviving family members will be treated as honorees.
Honorees and families will be recognized in university publications as well as being invited each year to VTSU’s Celebration of Scholars events to meet scholarship recipients. They will also receive annual updates about the fund’s growth and the students who benefit from the scholarship. Best of all, the whole honoree community will enjoy the same experience and life-long connection to VTSU
In addition to this shared experience, VTSU will also recognize the full amount of gifts made in honor or memory of each individual within the shared context of the fund. Donors may also include a personal message about the honoree that will be published along with the donor’s and honoree’s names.
