One of our recent Outdoor Education, Leadership & Tourism alumni, Ryan DeLena, has just starred in a newly released documentary film titled Ninety One. The film follows Ryan’s personal journey of resilience and healing after childhood trauma within the mental health system, using an ambitious backcountry ski project as its narrative framework.
Ninety One centers on Ryan’s effort to ski all 91 routes outlined in the guidebook for New Hampshire’s Presidential Range, weaving together his personal story with never-before-seen footage of the harsh beauty of the East Coast mountains. The film highlights themes of perseverance, identity, and finding joy through skiing, while also capturing the unique backcountry ski culture that inspired Ryan as he grew up.
