VTSU Student-Athletes Lead Free Youth Soccer Clinics in Randolph

This fall, Vermont State University student‑athletes from the varsity men’s soccer team came together to make a meaningful impact in the local community—organizing and leading a series of three free soccer clinics for area youth ages 9–12.

Using Judd Gymnasium as their home base and equipment generously loaned by a local soccer club, the players designed fast‑paced, upbeat sessions that showcased both their athletic skill and their commitment to service. Each clinic featured two lively hours of activity: warmups and technical drills set to an eclectic playlist of music, followed by high‑energy scrimmages that brought out friendly but fierce competition among participants.

Behind the scenes, the effort was supported by Karry Booska from Career Development, Hilary Linehan from Campus Operations, and Professor Sarah Silbert, who handled essential logistics and coordination.

VTSU extends special recognition to the student‑athletes who led the sessions and served as role models for young players:

  • Angel Barahona
  • Benjamin Bibimba
  • Saad Dahir
  • Adolph Mbula
  • Matthew Gonyea

Their leadership and enthusiasm created a welcoming environment for participants of all skill levels and helped strengthen ties between VTSU and the Randolph community.
