The Outdoor Education, Leadership, and Tourism (OELT) program at Vermont State University had an action-packed fall semester filled with professional engagement, networking, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Students, alongside faculty member Brad Moskowitz, represented VTSU at several major industry events, conferences, and workshops, showcasing the program’s commitment to experiential education and career readiness:

  • VOBA Outdoor Career Pathways Forum and Meet-Up – Montpelier
Brad served as a panelist while 11 students attended, connecting with outdoor industry professionals.
  • Vermont Climbing Festival – Waterbury
Brad and 6 students set up an exhibitor tent and participated throughout the weekend alongside several program alumni.
  • Wilderness Risk Management Conference – Portland, ME
Brad and 5 students hosted an exhibitor table and attended three days of sessions focused on safety and risk management in outdoor programming.
  • VOBA Outdoor Economy Summit – Burke Mountain
Brad attended with 6 students, who also volunteered at the event, gaining valuable experience in event operations.

In addition, Brad contributed to the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Conference, serving on a panel for the “Outdoor Careers: Learn and Grow in Vermont Professions” workshop. He also attended several specialized professional gatherings, including:
