What You’ll Learn 

At Vermont State, it’s what you learn and how you learn it. Here’s how the Sport Management program emphasizes both:  

• Full-Scope Curriculum: Your courses will explore the diversity of the industry. Classes offer students a foundation in ethics, strategic management, leadership, marketing and communications, sports law, budgets and finance, and facility and fitness center management.    
• Skills Employers Demand: With our small class sizes, you’ll build the teamwork and communication skills you’ll need in any job you have, talents that employers expect.   
• Encouragement to Innovate: Vermont State courses and faculty support exploring, and sometimes pushing, the boundaries of learning. That will open you up to new ways to make an impact and solve problems.  

Outside the Classroom, In the Community 

As a Sport Management student, you’ll spend a lot of time in the professional world, using your skills and putting a purpose to your passion. That will give you an advantage in a job market where employers insist on new hires with previous hands-on experience.   
 
You’ll have the opportunity to create a professional network through internships and practicums, which often lead to full-time employment after graduation. Our students have had internships within athletic departments at schools including Dartmouth and Middlebury colleges, Harvard University, and the U.S. Military Academy.
