What is an In-Person Plus program?

Program-required courses are taught through a combination of in-person and remote delivery. Remote learning may require meeting at a specific time or may not have a specific class time; all weekly interactions and assignments for remote courses are completed through a learning site.

Building on your foundational Communications degree courses, the Broadcast Journalism concentration offers students a deep dive into visual and digital storytelling skills that they will be able to apply across a multitude of broadcast platforms. You’ll gain hands-on experience from the start in the state-of-the art News7 broadcast facility while immersing yourself in covering news and sports in towns close to our Lyndon campus. From writing and photojournalism, to podcasting and social media, you will learn all about the different sides of the broadcast industry while you build a professional resume.

With Vermont State’s reputation for producing excellent broadcasters, editors, photojournalists, and reporters, our graduates are in demand regionally and nationally. Alumni of the program work at ESPN, Time-Warner, New England Sports Network (NESN), New England Cable News (NECN), NBC News, Fox Sports, and network stations across the country. Our campus-based news channel, News7 at our Lyndon campus, is one of only 30 live, student-run channels in the country.
