Who Runs the Vermont State Orchard?
Beginning in 2024, Vermont State University (VTSU) has leased management of the apple orchard to nearby Liberty Orchard, co-managed by Vermont State graduate. To learn more about Liberty Orchard visit their website and Facebook page or email info@stargrazerfarm.com.
Is the Orchard Accessible Outside of Picking Season?
No. Liberty Orchard uses industry-standard Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, the same holistic approach they have successfully employed in their own orchard for more than 30 years. IPM helps reduce pesticide use while promoting healthier trees, stronger environmental stewardship, and high-quality fruit production. To protect the health and safety of visitors, support ongoing orchard operations, and ensure compliance with agricultural management practices, the orchard is only open to the public during designated picking weekends. Outside of these scheduled times, access to the orchard is restricted to Liberty Orchard Staff only.
