You’ll broaden your reach across all web-based platforms in this concentration.
- Strong Internships: Past students have interned with Senator Bernie Sanders’ office, Vermont radio stations, and the social media marketing team at Casella and other businesses.
- Hands-On Learning: Many opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, both on campus and in the local community.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll delve into the full suite of creative skills needed to write, design, and create content for digital platforms. In addition to your communications curriculum, you’ll choose from courses specific to this concentration to learn about web content and site development, graphic design, the cultural impact of media, the face-to-face communications skills needed for digital storytelling, the theory and practice of specific aspects of media production, and more.
Outside the Classroom, In the Community
- Through internships, case studies, and opportunities to work with local businesses for class projects, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned in class to real-world working situations.
- The Content Lab, our student-led, student-run creative agency on our Castleton Campus, provides students an opportunity to work with community clients to develop a professional portfolio of media work.
- On the Lyndon campus, you can intern in our student-run News7 studio or in the VTSU Marketing & Communications Office. Off-campus, you might work with businesses seeking to get their message out and network through social media and podcasting platforms.
