You’ll develop a well-rounded skill set to prepare for a variety of data science jobs in this in-demand field.
Building on foundational technical skills gained through core courses, you’ll learn how to design database systems, delve into machine learning, manage and process data, make inferences, and communicate findings to an audience.
Through electives, you can expand into areas that can be strategic for your career path, including courses in the Business Administration, Psychology, or Social Science departments. For example, you could take Principles of Marketing and Marketing Research to prepare for the rapidly growing field of marketing analytics or choose Financial Accounting and Project Management to prepare for managerial roles in business.
A final capstone project in mathematics is your chance to explore a topic of interest and demonstrate your mature skills as a mathematician, or choose a CIS senior project to demonstrate your mastery of program subjects.

At Vermont State, you’ll gain leading-edge skills for data science and data analytics jobs through internship placements with dynamic organizations around the region and across the country, including the Vermont Agency of Education and Vermont Biomedical Research Network (VBRN).
