Qualified Vermont residents enrolled in a degree seeking program can attend VTSU tuition free!
Delivering a high quality and affordable education to Vermonters is our top priority. With locations across the state, a Vermont State education is also accessible. To ensure affordability, VTSU will close the general tuition* gap with aid after all federal, state, institutional, and employer-supported aid is applied to a student’s account.
- Vermont residents of any age enrolling in degree programs for for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Fall 2026 terms.
- Student/family adjusted gross income (AGI) of $50,000 or less as reflected on their FAFSA.
- Students seeking their initial undergraduate degree (associate or bachelor). Those with previous bachelor’s degrees or those seeking a certificate, do not qualify.
Does your AGI exceed the threshold? VSAC and Vermont State University have teamed up to offer Freedom & Unity, an opportunity for Vermont students with a family income of $65,000 or less to attend VTSU tuition free. Learn more here.
*The Vermont State University Free Tuition Guarantee covers general tuition only. Program tuition for Engineering and Technology; Nursing and Respiratory Therapy; and Dental and Radiologic is not covered by this program. See tuition figures for more information.
