Summer Bridge

Summer Bridge Program — For a Strong Start!

Are you the first in your family to attend college, dependent upon financial aid to pay for college, or have a disability? Consider applying for the Summer Bridge program offered at our Castleton, Johnson, and Lyndon campuses. With Summer Bridge you’ll arrive on campus early with other new students, joining with upper-class student mentors to learn all about campus life. Workshops, projects, and experiential activities will explore a range of topics, including study strategies, time management, writing research papers, and paying for college.

Summer Bridge can help you succeed in college — and it’s fun! Summer Bridge groups have attended plays, watched movies, tried out rock climbing, and hiked Vermont’s beautiful mountains, all while making friends and gaining confidence. By the time first-year orientation is underway, you’ll be a part of the team — and feel right at home at Vermont State University.

Are you playing a fall sport?

Good for you! However, your practice and training schedule may conflict with Summer Bridge, so you may not be able to participate in the program. But don’t worry: your time with your team will give you the same jump-start on college life, and you can always meet with us during the semester to discuss everything we cover during Summer Bridge.

Are you studying in the Killington Resort and Hospitality Management program?

We welcome you to join us for Summer Bridge. However, we will not have housing available between the Summer Bridge end and Killington Lodge move-in dates.
