Vermont State Math Placement Assessment Information

Vermont State is committed to providing students with a successful math experience. Our Math Placement Assessment will guide you through a series of questions that are designed to evaluate which math course(s) will be the best starting point for you.

This assessment is not timed or proctored. We recommend that you set aside an hour to take the assessment and that, if possible, you take it in a quiet place that is free from distractions and give it your full attention. As this is designed to assess a good starting point for you, you cannot pass or fail. Getting help from others or online resources will not help you in the long run, so we recommend you complete this without assistance. You may leave and return to the assessment until the time that you click submit, at which point the assessment will be complete and your score will be generated. Please be sure you click submit when you are finished taking the assessment. If you do not, our advisors will not know you have taken it.

If you have any questions before, during, or after the assessment, contact Advising@VermontState.edu.

NOTE: If you have previously completed math college credits, or have taken an AP test in math and scored a 3 or higher, you may not be waived from this assessment. It should be indicated on your checklist if it is not required, but please contact Advising@VermontState.edu if you are unsure if you need to complete this assessment.

If you require accommodations for a disability, please contact Vermont State University Disability Services at DisabilityServices@VermontState.edu.

Students must have paid their admissions deposit, or have had their admissions deposit waived, to gain access to this assessment. If you have not done so or have questions about the deposit, please email Admissions@VermontState.edu or call 888.398.VTSU (8878).

You will be prompted to enter your Vermont State credentials.
