Program Admission Requirements

The following department programs have specific prerequisite requirements and/or require your academic profile to include specific courses.

Applied Business Degree CompletionAn associate’s degree or at least fifty (50) transferrable higher education credits
Dental Hygiene B.S.
Radiologic Science A.S.
Lab Chemistry and Lab Biology or college-level Anatomy & Physiology part 1 (within the last 10 years), math and English preparation as demonstrated through: minimum Accuplacer scores and/or approved transfer credit. Recommended high school math preparation includes Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
Dental Hygiene Online Degree CompletionA.S. in Dental Hygiene w/ 2.5 minimum GPA; two letters of recommendation
ParamedicineValid EMT license, healthcare provider level CPR card
Respiratory TherapyCollege-level Anatomy & Physiology parts 1 and 2 (within the last 10 years, 8 transferable credits: BIO 2011 and BIO 2012 Anatomy & Physiology Parts I and II) are required prior to beginning the program, math and English preparation as demonstrated through: minimum Accuplacer scores and/or approved transfer credit. Recommended high school math preparation includes Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
Veterinary TechnologyAlgebra I; Algebra II; Lab Biology; Lab Chemistry
Practical Nursing (C.T.)College-level approved transfer credit in BIO 2011 Human Anatomy & Physiology, BIO 2012 Human Anatomy & Physiology, BIO 1030 Introduction to Nutrition, and PSY 2070 Lifespan Developmental Psychology. These courses must be completed prior to the start of classes for all campuses and sites other than Randolph. Science courses must be completed within the last ten years with a grade of C or higher. Math and English preparation as demonstrated through minimum Accuplacer scores and/or approved transfer credit. Recommended high school math preparation includes Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. All students matriculating are required to complete clearance procedures including a criminal background check and drug screening prior to enrollment. Final acceptance to the program is conditional upon receipt of appropriate clearances. Additional clearance procedures may be required by regulatory bodies or specific clinical agencies.
Nursing, A.S.Current, unencumbered/unconditioned PN license; minimum 3.0 GPA in LPN coursework or equivalent; math and English preparation as demonstrated through minimum Accuplacer scores and/or approved transfer credit. If not a VTC/VTSU PN graduate, must have transferable credits in Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Nutrition, and Lifespan Developmental Psychology. Science courses must be completed within 10 years prior to admission with a minimum grade of C or higher. Graduates of a non-college PN program must submit a program transcript. All students matriculating are required to complete clearance procedures including a criminal background check and drug screening prior to enrollment. Nursing, B.S.N.Cumulative high school academic GPA of 3.0 or higher with strong performance in all math and science courses. Transfer student cumulative college GPA of 2.8 or higher. Science courses must be completed within 10 years prior to admission. To progress in the Nursing program all students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher and receive grades of B- or greater in all courses required for the Nursing major, and C+ or greater in all other math and science courses. All students matriculating are required to complete clearance procedures including a criminal background check and drug screening prior to enrollment. Final acceptance to the program is conditional upon receipt of appropriate clearances. Additional clearance procedures may be required by regulatory bodies or specific clinical agencies.
Nursing Online Degree Completion (B.S.N.)Current, unencumbered/unconditioned, license as a Registered Nurse within the United States; RN graduate of an accredited nursing program; 2.5 minimum ADN GPA. The following courses or approved transfer courses must be completed prior to entry: BIO 1030 Introduction to Nutrition, BIO 2011 Anatomy & Physiology I, BIO 2012 Anatomy & Physiology II, BIO 2120 Microbiology; ENG 1061 English Composition; MAT 1440 Applied Mathematics for Health Sciences; PSY 1010 Introduction to Psychology, PSY 2070 Lifespan Developmental Psychology. Science courses must be taken within the last ten years with a C or higher. Early Childhood Education Online (B.S.)Prior work experience with children from birth to age 5; successful completion of Intro to Early Childhood Education course; transfer of 60 credits, associate, or bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; admitted students must achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher in their final semester of the program to meet licensure eligibility requirements.
