Learn the fundamentals of the dynamic communications field and practice them hands-on in Vermont State’s Associate of Arts in Communications. Develop your studio and live sound skills in the Audio Production Concentration within the Music Business & Industry (MBI) major at Vermont State — the program for students interested in music production, audio engineering, music mixing, live sound, and audio post-production for film, television, streaming, and video games.

Your hands-on education begins year one in the MBI recording studio and Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Lab, and you’ll learn live sound reinforcement working events in the Alexander Twilight Theatre right on campus.

In the only university-based program currently accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), you’ll gain the advanced training and skills you need to run outdoor and adventure-based programs for major organizations or the know-how start your own.

Become an expert backpacker or expedition canoeist while you learn to lead groups and programs in rock, ice or alpine climbing, backcountry skiing, avalanche studies, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, and more. Accreditation

Vermont State’s Outdoor Education, Leadership & Tourism program is the only university program in the country to currently be accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). This accreditation applies specifically to Vermont State’s rock climbing, ice climbing, alpine climbing, and backcountry ski programs.

The AMGA Accreditation Program ensures conformance to high technical standards, strong programs, and a quality staff of AMGA-certified and engaged and engaging climbing instructors and guides.

What is an In-Person program?

The concentration in Teaching PreK-12 Physical Education in Vermont State’s B.S. in Physical Education program prepares you to become a physical education teacher for grades pre- K-12.

We’ll show you how to inspire a lifelong love of physical activity and bring out the best in your students through a program aligned with the teacher education guidelines of the Society of Health and Physical Educators of America and the Vermont Agency of Education.

You'll also be able to improve your own skill competency in our athletic facilities or through a variety of individual and team sports, winter activities, aquatics, racquet sports, wellness activities, and much more. You can also double-major in Health Education — or choose to minor in Adventure Education, Coaching, or School Health.

Why Study Teaching PreK-12 Physical Education at Vermont State

The Concentration in Health & Physical Activity Promotion in Vermont State’s B.S. in Physical Education program prepares you for careers promoting health, physical activity, and fitness in non-school settings such as public health departments, government agencies, hospitals, and medical centers, youth programs and camps, fitness centers, recreation departments, and non-profit community organizations.

You’ll have opportunities to gain practical experience coaching or volunteering with our community partners beginning your first academic year. You will also have access to a broad array of physical activity spaces to boost your skills in individual and team sports, winter activities, aquatics, racquet sports, wellness activities, and much more.

You can also choose to minor in Adventure Education and Coaching.

What is an In-Person Plus program?

Program-required courses are taught through a combination of in-person and remote delivery. Remote learning may require meeting at a specific time or may not have a specific class time; all weekly interactions and assignments for remote courses are completed through a learning site.

Prepare for a rewarding career helping others heal in the Pre-Physical/Occupational Therapy Concentration within our B.S. in Exercise Science program. You’ll gain fundamental knowledge in the natural sciences and exercise science, including rehabilitation strategies for injuries, therapeutic modalities, and pathophysiology and clinical exercise prescription, through laboratory, experiential, and professional internship practices.

We’ll help you build a foundation of skills and knowledge that will enable you to enroll in graduate programs in a number of health science fields, including clinical doctoral programs in physical therapy (DPT) and become eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist.
